Arrived back in Perth yesterday from 2 months in Victoria.
Had a couple of stops for gigs in Ceduna, South Australia, as well as a week in my old Dirty Blonde stomping ground Kalgoorlie. Thanks to all the folk in Ceduna, very cool place for me to spend a few days, eat some oysters, visit the wombats and play some tunes. All the people I met at the Ceduna Forshore Motel were terrific, hospitable and welcoming to a vagrant like me. Hopefully will see you all in 6 months or so if I decide to dash across the Nullarbor again. You can check out some more pics at my facebook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Spectacle/143849838983737
I’ve got a couple of weeks off to do some work and recuperate before bouncing back up North for 2 weeks of shows. Have been working on some house-esque electro on the road and look forward to bringing it onto my proper computer to play with. Also maybe doing a 3-week cover tour with Dirty Blonde in September for a bit of fun and to catch up with the guys

So Spectacle is still nesting in Victoria, working on some music gathering impetus to attack another Western Australian tour in July (including Kalbarri, Geraldton, Carnarvon, Exmouth and Newman so far). When I return I will be very insistent with both venues and agents to be booking me in Perth, so if you know someone in the biz, pass on a recommendation for WA’s most radical, soulful soloist (that’s me by the way haha).
Here’s some photos of my show in Berwick (the one that didn’t get canned by a disorganized managerial staff – grumble), snapped by my buddy Luke (see below).
Will be playing in Ceduna, South Aus, on my way through to the Nullarbor. Am working on getting some Kalgoorlie/Boulder shows so I can have a break, catch up with some of my old cronies, and give Kal some music to be excited about.
Working on a few new covers for you to bop to including David Bowie, The Divinyls, and Peter Gabriel – hello 80s – for a new challenge but want a few more contemporary songs – though Lady Gaga and her ilk make me want to puke a little bit. If you’ve got some requests – let me know now so can refuse them early hehehe.
See you soon
So at the moment I am nested in a cosy little town called ‘Warragul’ in the hilly Gippsland region an hour out of Melbourne. I’ve absconded from WA to get some inspiration, work on some projects (such as this spanking new website) and try get some gigs over here to open up new territories for me to play my shows to a more discerning audience.
I am residing with my good friends Luke and Stacey who have given me a room in the home they designed and are allowing me to get around beat-boxing, strumming and dancing in ludicrous ways for my own amusement.
Luke Watson is one of the country’s foremost caricature artists, comicstrippers, designers, and downright weirdos. We have collaborated on a few things over the years, generally culminating in trying to make each other laugh with the most offensive jokes we can conjur.
Right is a pic he did of me many years ago while he was still finding his feet in his field.
He says he enjoys caricaturing me as my face lends itself to ridiculousness and requires little exaggeration. Insult or compliment I’m still not sure.
I’ve included a couple of pics from ‘Swizzlestick’, from a few years ago, a photo based comicstrip Luke and I created to fill our spare time. Hopefully will get a gallery going for this soon for those who haven’t seen it – and maybe even try get some new ideas so you can keep up with ‘Eric’s’ antics.
…..And finally…. here’s a more recent caricature of Sartre, digitally drawn – a relatively new artform that he is spearheading in the Australian art community. Check out his blog to see the depth and variety of his recent ventures at http://www.lukewatsons.blogspot.com/
Now, since I’ve been here I’ve written a new song on my acoustic. It’s all real instruments done in the lounge and bedroom with dodgy equipment, thrown together to create this little ditty. Hope you dig it!
That’s it for new, pop in over the next few weeks for some new gear.

Wow – look at me blog – looks like I have something to say.
Now, I am fully aware that most people who blog are egocentric narcissists who think every thoughtful, witty thing that pops out of their skulls deserves a mention via this all-encompassing medium.
And so it seems perfect for me to have one of my own!
Don’t know where this will take us but hopefully will be giving you a few poems and lyrics when they crop up as well as stories and pics from the road.
So, if you want to know what I’m banging on about when I’m singing my songs or ranting my rants on stage, or you’d like to find out where I’ve been or what I’m up to – tune in.
